Get out of town on two wheels. Weekend getaways give you a taste of the good life, but get you back to the city in time for the work week. Choose one of our two-day bike rides with one night of camping near Vancouver to get you exploring in the great outdoors.

 

Vancouver - Sunshine Coast

Day by Day

Day 1 | Vancouver - Sechelt | 63 miles (101 km)

Cycle over the Lions Gate Bridge and onwards through West Vancouver.  Continue to Horseshoe Bay and enjoy a scenic ferry ride to Gibsons. You've made it to the Sunshine Coast!  Pass through Robert's Creek on your way to Sechelt, where you'll set up camp for the night at Porpoise Bay. Spend the afternoon riding out to the charming community of Half Moon Bay. Treat yourself to some fresh oysters before returning to Sechelt for an evening by the campfire.

 

Day 2 | Sechelt - Vancouver | 35 miles (56 km)

Head back along the Sunshine Coast, and make your way to Gibsons to catch the ferry. Soak in the views of the Burrard Inlet, while enjoying a picnic lunch at Lighthouse Park. Finish your ride by crossing over the Lions Gate Bridge and back into Canada's most beautiful city.

Day by Day

Day 1 | Vancouver - Salt Spring Island | 51 miles (82 km)

Head south from Vancouver, passing through Richmond. Stop for coffee in the seaside town of Steveston, before boarding the ferry in Tsawwassen. Enjoy the incredible ferry ride through the gulf islands before arriving at Salt Spring! Explore some of the island's charming communities before making your way to Ruckle Provincial Park to enjoy the sunset by the ocean.

 

Day 2 | Salt Spring Island - Vancouver | 61 miles (98 km)

After a leisurely morning, cycle up to the north end of the island, before making your way into town for a well-deserved lunch. Find your way to the long harbor and once again soak in the beautiful ferry ride back to the lower mainland. 

A Glimpse at A Day ON THE ROAD

Vancouver - Sechelt | 64 mi (101 km)

 

8:30 am: Wake up, eat breakfast and get ready for day 1. Load up your bike, and hit the road!

10:30 am: Cross over the Lions Gate Bridge into West Vancouver and enjoy the view of the city from Lighthouse Park. 

11:55 am: Ride the ferry across beautiful Howe Sound. Keep your eyes peeled for Orcas! 

12:30 pm: Welcome to Gibsons. You've made it to the Sunshine Coast! Grab a bite to eat for lunch in town.

2:30 pm: Set up camp for the night at Porpoise Bay Campground. 

3 pm: Without the extra weight of your camping gear, take an afternoon ride out to Half Moon and shuck a few oysters.

6 pm:  Pick up a few last minute dinner supplies in Sechelt before heading back to camp for dinner by the fire.
